(YSI) The last seeded Mets capped off an exciting season on Friday, June 15, 2007 by winning the Championship Game of Fairfield Little League Girls Softball, 5-0, over the Red Sox. The winning pitcher was Mets ace and key offensive threat Emily Nelson. Mets highlights of the championship game included a home run to deep left field by catcher and field general Jessica Sedgwick, 3 of 3 hitting by shortstop Delaney Dubois, and a heads up play by 3rd base player Shannon Squier to end the game. The Red Sox were led by outstanding performances by Kitty Caissy, Mary Victor and Meredith McGann.
Significant Mets contributions during the season were also made by 2nd base player Jennifer Hsieh, who was 8 of 13 hitting in 4 games of the semi-final round, home runs by 1st base player Alexandra Zadravec and Emily Nelson, a grand slam by Jessica Sedgwick, as well as outstanding performances by relief pitcher Abbey Maloney,and key hits by Juliana Gagne, Jessica Kelly, Abby Vacheron and Marrissa Roberge. The team was managed by Shaun Squier with the help of coach Chuck Zadravec.
